This season I’m trading my essential office blazer for the work-from-home-appropriate Shelter Cardigan by Tradlands.
Today’s post is not sponsored but I am a Tradlands affiliate and this post contains affiliate links.
Although the name suggests it was launched for these times, the Shelter is a pre-COVID style that sells out consistently.
Case in point the Burnt Sienna sold out in my size within 4 hours of my receiving the re-stock text. Fortunately the Shelter Cardigan is still available in Birch (pictured) and a soft grey called Qail.
One of my favorite companies for ethical and sustainable wardrobe essentials is Tradlands. They understand quality over quantity. Their ethos of creating heirloom worthy clothing which stands the test of time is one that I can stand behind. Their Varsity sweatshirt is one of my favorite essentials to elevate.
What impressed me most about the Shelter though is the construction. Made with 90% cotton and 10% poly in a mid-weight fabric that’s ethically sourced along the coast of Peru according to the Tradland’s site.
I love the thick ribbing of the knit and the fact that it is washable. As you’ll see from the pricing, the Shelter Cardigan is not an inexpensive piece so it’s nice that you don’t have to contend with a dry cleaning bill. And you will get your cost per wear knowing that you can easily maintain it yourself.
As far as the fit, it’s an oversized cut but not overly-long. I took the size Medium so that I can style it in various ways. For example, buttoned up and partially tucked, gives the Shelter a very of-the-moment look. The Shelter is not overly bulky and can be belted comfortably; one of my favorite hacks for elevating a sweater, coat or blazer.
Priced at $237 this is a piece that I would consider an “investment” especially now. Currently Tradlands is offering a 3-tier sale through July 6th and this staple can be had at 20% off. Miss the sale? NBD. Like many sites you can still capture a 10% discount when you sign up for the Tradlands newsletter. They also offer a Rewards program where you can earn points for every dollar spent. And if you’ve got it like that and can afford to pay full price, know that you are supporting an ethical business.
Xoxo,
