Best foot forward in the Everlane Day Heel and Twill Zip Tote
As a wardrobe essentials blogger, I’m constantly turning an eye towards pieces that elevate any outfit with minimal effort. I’ve found that a great outfit can be built from a foundation of 3 pieces.
Ok, you may be thinking, “Isn’t this blog about 10 key pieces”? And yes, you are right; I believe a great wardrobe can be built from 10 pieces.
But today I’m talking about the Top 3 Everlane pieces that I constantly reach for to build a great outfit.
Don’t let the term “Skinny” deter you from these perfect jeans that fit every body and every booty. The fabric is the perfect blend of Japanese cotton with the right amount of stretch. And if skinny is not your jam, these come in boyfriend fit as well. Since I wrote my review of this sustainably manufactured jean I’ve probably worn these weekly. The color “Stay Black” hasn’t faded despite multiple washings. However, I wear them a few times before washing and hang to dry – just in case. My favorite way to wear these is with crisp white shirts, a Cashmere sweater dress, and pumps.

The Day Heel is as perfect for weekends as it is for work days. The block heel gives you that vanity height while still ensuring comfort All.Damn.Day (their words). They look great with everything: pants, dresses, jeans, skirts. The perfect shoe to elevate any look. I’m wearing them with a pair of vintage acid wash Guess? jeans. “Elevate” and “Acid-Wash” are opposites, but not when Everlane is in the mix!

TRUE STORY. Last year I was on a 3 month waitlist for the Valentino Tango pumps which are very similar in style to the Day heel except with a Mary Jane ankle strap. These shoes are ridiculously expensive and the cost didn’t stop there. I paid extra to add protective rubber soles to extend the life of the delicate leather bottoms.
I .KID. YOU. NOT I walked from BART 24th & Mission to Everlane Lab (to buy..you guessed it…The Day Heel). Not a huge walk; maybe 1/2-mile. Anyway by the time I got there I was dying. The Valentino’s made my feet CRY. From this day forward I think twice before reaching for the Valentinos. And so should you.

This unassuming $48 tote happens to be one of Everlane’s top selling products and stands out amongst the brand’s leather totes priced 4 times greater.
Besides the reasonable price tag, the proportion of this bag is near perfect. The 11-inch straps are long enough for tucking under the arm of a lightweight tee or a winter coat. There’s no bunching. And the strap is not so long that it drags the ground, making it the perfect shopper tote.
