Can you believe Spring is already upon us? While it still feels like winter in the Bay Area, it won’t be long until the rains stops and the sun starts to shine. Which means it’s also time to transition to a Spring wardrobe.
Plus Spring Break is around the corner for our kids. With all that we have going on Spring Break usually ends up being a short road trip up to Vichy Springs. For times like this when I’ll be making trips between the grill, the pool, and the mineral baths, I want my packing routine to be as effortless as possible.
Cue the effortless maxi dress. One of the reasons I love a maxi dress is its ability to move between occasions with minimum effort but with maximum effect.
When you find the right maxi dress it quadruples as beach cover-up, poolside wrap, brunch date, and evening gown.
This season’s best yet is by wardrobe essentials brand Grana*. I love how Grana takes a standard pattern (in this case a button up blouse) and makes small adjustments to create a completely new look. In the the silk maxi dress here, they’ve relaxed the collar for a casual vibe, and shortened the sleeve. The cuff just above the elbow adds a tailored touch.
The silk maxi dress has draw strings to nip in the waist and generous buttons down the leg. You can show as little, or like me, as much leg as you want!
As for footwear I love to pair a maxi dress with a gladiator flat so the dress just grazes the floor.
But this time I opted for classic espadrille wedges by Castañer. Castañer started making the wedge style for famed french designer Yves Saint Laurent in the 1970s.
I can’t wait to wear this effortless maxi dress with a white one piece suit. And I’ll swap out my Gentle Monsters for the white Le specs “Lolita cat eyes” for 1950’s poolside glam!
