It’s no secret that floral and pink are typical Spring fashion trends. This seasons offerings are decidedly more feminine and frilly with ruffled Victorian necklines and Calico prints a la Laura Ingalls Wilder and Holly Hobby.
One of my favorite pink confections is the “Harry” blouse from London based Marks and Spencer’s collaboration Archive by Alexa. Last time I checked the blouse had sold out, however the dress version is still available in white.
Luckily I didn’t have to cross the pond for this dreamy vintage version from Vera Neumann.
I scored this one for $1 at 2525 Vintage & Modern Resale Clothing in Hayward, CA. If you follow me on snapchat you saw me literally running up and down the aisles at this amazing shop!
The 60’s era headscarves with the “Vera” signature and ladybug logo, was a favorite of Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly. While I knew about the scarves, having purchased a bulk lot on eBay years ago, I wasn’t aware that Vera clothing items existed.
I love that the Vera blouse has ruffles only at the neckline since, IMO going overboard with the ruffles could result in this blouse going by the wayside after the trend fades. For the long term I’m looking forward to pairing this blouse with a vintage mom/ girlfriend Levis for a cool girl casual look. As you can see from the photo, the look is office appropriate with a pleated skirt – or if you dare – go for the librarian look with vintage Ferragamo pumps.
This vintage Vera blouse is definitely one of my “Loves” and has inspired an upcoming post called the 5-piece Vintage Wardrobe challenge (similar to the 5 piece French Wardrobe challenge) where I will style several looks with this and my other vintage finds. Stay tuned!
