This year the pre-owned market has been in the spotlight for everyday style. However National Consignment Day reminds us that the luxury market is not exempt from the circular economy.
This post contains affiliate links to The Real Real. Although this post was not sponsored I’m an affiliate of TRR. Read my first post on National Consignment Day here.
The Real Real which created National Consignment day to celebrate closing the loop in luxury fashion, asked me what I look for when shopping consignment.
TRR: Describe your style in 3 words.
TKP: Elegant, Classic, Minimalist (If I may be so bold!)
TRR What are the Top 5 brands that you have in your ‘Saved Searches’ on The Real Real
TKP: Tibi, Mansur Gavriel Women, Vintage Fendi, Maison Margiela, Celine
TRR: What are your “Obsessions” The 5 items you have your eye on.
- Mansur Gavriel Women: The Teddy Coat is a perennial winter favorite. I’ve been obsessed with this shearling coat by Mansur Gavriel ever since trying it on in store last winter.
- Tibi: I treat myself to a new Tibi piece each year but I’m always stalking pre-loved pieces such as this Mock Neck blouse ; its affordable and so on trend with its sequins and chocolate brown hue.
- Vintage Zucca Fendi Luggage: I’m a strong believer in circular fashion and have a small collection of vintage luxury luggage. This train case would go perfectly with my vintage suitcase for weekend road trips in the wine country.
- Maison Margiela: I’m so glad that Brown is in season again; these cocoa brown equestrian boots are a classic that will never go out of style.
- Celine Sweater: Sweater weather is almost here and I can picture myself in this Editor’s Pick chunky knit with a mug of hot cocoa.
TRR: What is your Best TRR Find; the item you purchased that you love the most!
TKP: Hands down, it’s my Celine Mini Luggage. This purchase was a true labor of love because I spent 3 months consigning and selling pieces from my own closet until I was able to offset the purchase of my first luxury handbag.
TRR: Why do you choose The RealReal for your shopping and consigning needs.
TKP: I consign and shop consignment on TRR because it’s the most practical and sustainable way to curate a wardrobe that represents ones authentic self. We are bombarded daily with options to buy the latest trends. When you’ve distilled your wishlist down to shop at TRR, then you know it was meant to be! As for those pieces where you got swept away, later realizing they weren’t for you? By consigning with TRR you can guarantee they’ll find a place in another curated closet!
Shopping secondhand and especially consignment has always been an important part my closet.
For obvious reasons second hand shopping makes good sense during this time. But even before Covid I started examining where and how I buy my clothing.
I hope that I’ve inspired you to shop second hand when you decide to shop. Do you have any items in your closet that you’re ready to close the loop on. If so, what are they?
What Obsessions do you have that you hope to score on consignment?
