McMullen clients and brand fans were treated to a meet and greet and personal styling session with Tibi Designer and Creative Director Amy Smilovic.
The Oakland flagship store, which opened its Uptown home last Fall, has long been the Bay Area’s source for Tibi. Sherri McMullen and Amy are long time friends and McMullen has stocked Tibi since its beginnings on Piedmont Avenue.
Tibi has cult status amongst fashion influencers, and I began incorporating pieces into my closet a few years back. First with a jumpsuit; then a midi skirt and classic menswear blazer. Their dresses make regular appearances at my workplace and special events.
Tibi’s edgy aesthetic and innovative styling make their site a go-to inspiration board for lessons in styling unique pieces. I look to their Features page whenever I get stuck on how to style those one-off pieces in my closet such as a silver metallic skirt or white boot.
Tibi knows how to make a stand out wardrobe element click into place.
For Fall 2019 I had been eyeing the release of pieces that meet the current trends, yet also are classics to be worn year after year.
The Faux Leather Utility shirt is on its way to my closet, as I fully embrace the full-on leather trend of Fall 2019. As you saw in my InstaStories I’ve been reaching for my vintage leather blazer and trousers. When I’m not tucking the Tibi Utility Shirt into suit pants, I’ll be layering over a sweater dress and boots. Versatility and wearability are the reasons I continue to invest in this brand.
