Until April 15th Glossier is taking over the popular Rhea’s cafe in the Mission district.
You can order a fried chicken sandwich all while getting your healthy glow on with a myriad of natural skin care and no make-up make-up products.
When I learned Glossier was in town for a pop-up I jumped at the chance to try their products in real life. My daughter and I braved the 40 minute wait (on a Monday no less) to see what all the hype was about. And the experience did not disappoint.
Rheas cafe, voted best sandwiches in San Francisco has been painted with fresh coats of Glossier pink and lavender for the occasion.
The counter seating was replaced with vanity mirrors, and mock place settings of lip gloss, salves, and eye paints. Behind the bar, kitchen staff busily prepared signature sandwiches and salads, barely aware of the moms, teens, and beauty bloggers with iPhones in hand.

After initially trying on the salve that was way too sticky for my taste I made a bee line to the product I’d been itching to try since December. The Skin Tint that had so many mixed reviews, especially for darker skin tones, I didn’t dare buy it sight unseen. It seemed like the perfect product to compliment my SKII “One bottle away from no-makeup”challenge.
Since December I’ve been using SKII skin potion with Pitera. The claim is that you’ll be one bottle away from no foundation with this skin-smoothing product. At the hallway point, I’ve dropped down to just a tinted concealer as my daily foundation. But I want to go one step less, so to speak, by trying a skin tint from Glossier.
Skin tint is definitely beyond sheer. So much so that there was virtually no difference between Deep and Rich (the darkest tint). Skin Tint didn’t hide my imperfections by any means. But it did give my skin a more even look, letting my own skin show through. To cover redness and dark circles, it was necessary to use the concealer. Nevertheless I welcomed this addition to my routine for those days I want to go without full-on foundation.
I bought what I came for which was the Stretch concealer and Skin Tint, both in the shade Deep. I also bought the cloud paints in Beam and Dusk and Glossier Lip Gloss. My daughter, being a typical teen opted for the Lidstar in Moon and Balm Dotcom in Birthday, as well as cloud paint in Haze and Puff. As a mom, I appreciate that my daughter can use make-up that is A. Natural in its ingredients, and B. Still makes her look like a 14-year-old.
