Every year I can’t help but get caught up in the west coast Festival Fashion scene.
Be it Coachella, Bottlerock in Napa, or OutsideLands in SF. I always find myself down the social media rabbit hole of “Outfit ideas for” and “What to wear for” (fill in the blank) music festival.
My personal favorites? How to Dress (and Not Dress) for Coachella Post-30″. And “Coachella 2018 Why All Music Festival Goers Look The Same”.
Jokes aside, the common denominator is that most festival fashion leans towards Bohemian. I think this is why festival fashion resonates so much with me.
But, what to wear if your style is Minimalist?
While I’ll always dress more as a minimalist, I have strong tendency towards boho. And I know I’m not the only one; just search hashtag bohochic, bohominimalist.
You’ll see styles very similar to the look I’ve curated c/o wardrobe essentials brand Grana. The look that I like to call Festival Fashion for the Minimalist.
These Bermuda shorts have more of a grown up vibe, yet the tailoring screams chic. The slouchiness goes with the relaxed music festival vibe.
The update on Grana’s V -neck silk cami has been worth the wait. I reviewed the earlier version here. This season’s version (priced at $59) has an improved fit with no gapes under the arms. The straps are shortened just a bit to keep from slipping off. I love that Grana kept the deep V neckline. Perfect for showing off that dainty necklace you’re destined to buy at one of the festival booths.
To give this minimal look a more Bohemian vibe reach for a western style belt (linked below). I reached for a minimal style belt. But opted for a western style (by way of Stockholm) ankle boot from Acne Studios. Scroll down to shop similar styles.
Music festivals are notoriously hot, windy and invariably involve a lot of walking and sitting on the ground. However the Coachella in my mind (and this outfit reflects just that) is not dusty or hot. But instead about 75 degrees, partly sunny, with a nice ocean breeze. My hang out is not on the ground on a scratchy blanket. Rather it’s by the VIP tent with an endless supply of cucumber water and anything with the name “spritzer” in it.
OK, this may be a delusional vision of Coachella, but there’s no doubt this outfit will keep you cool AND stylish at any of these desert fetes.
